Over the weekend, claims emerged that US President Donald Trump prefers his female staff to “dress like a woman”.

Within hours, social media had erupted and the hashtag #dresslikeawoman had started to trend.

The claim that Trump likes womanly dressing originally came from political media website Axios, which quoted an unnamed sourced as saying: ‘

“Trump likes the women who work for him “to dress like women… Even if you’re in jeans, you need to look neat and orderly.” We hear that women who worked in Trump’s campaign field offices — folks who spend more time knocking on doors than attending glitzy events — felt pressure to wear dresses to impress Trump.”

So what does “dressing like a woman” actually mean?

Here are some of our favourite social media reactions.
